AUFF Starting Grants 2021

With Starting Grants, AUFF wants to strengthen the growth layer and thereby ensure excellent researchers good career opportunities at Aarhus University. AUFF Starting Grants can be used for international recruitment to growth areas with a view to establishing new independent research areas and research groups. The target group for Starting Grants is newly employed assistant professors, associate professors and professors.

AUFF Starting Grants can be applied for on an ongoing basis in connection with negotiations on new employment / recruitment. This application must be submitted by the head of department with a recommendation from the dean. In addition, there are two annual application rounds.

The application rounds in April and October are aimed at growth points at Aarhus University and here AUFF Starting Grants can be applied for by newly employed assistant professors, associate professors and professors. For all three groups, the employment must have taken place no earlier than 1 August 2020 for the application round in April and no earlier than 1 February 2021 or thereafter for the application round in October.

Applications are prioritized by deans and department heads prior to the decision on distribution.

In 2021, there will be a framework of a total of DKK 40 million DKK for AUFF Starting Grants.

Funding options

Assistant professor/Researcher: up to DKK 2.4 million over a period of three years

Associate Professor/Senior researcher: up to DKK 4 million over a period of three years

Professor: Up to DKK 5 million over a period of three years

  • Tuesday 13 April, 2021, at 12.00 (noon) CET
  • Friday 1 October, 2021, at 12.00 (noon) CET

Ongoing application in connection with current recruitment

In order to be able to apply for an AUFF Starting Grant outside of the application rounds, this must be a current and urgent recruitment situation, where an AUFF Starting Grant will be crucial for attracting an extremely appealing candidate who, in the situation, has other job offers on hand.
